2023 Pantone Color of the Year is a BOLD SLAP IN THE FACE

The other day, I was doing a 1-1 pitch writing session for a PR Starter Pack member (btw,  our 2023 PR vision planning call is on 1/30th--are you joining?).

She was a designer and watercolorist and we talked about Pantone's color of the year.

Usually, it's kinda like, who the hell cares....if you're not a designer or artist.

But then she said something striking.

This year's color is a BOLD SLAP IN THE FACE.

 

Then I got to thinking.

If these "color of the year" decisions are made on purpose, then maybe this LOUD ASS, BOLD, UNAPOLOGETIC Magenta color is telling us something.

Maybe, unlike other "peaceful, quiet, behind the scenes" years with muted colors, this is a signal that we need to just show the f*ck up and unapologetically take up space.

So much of what we've been doing here is training, knowledge sharing, and giving you the tools to confidently tell your story and OWN your story.

But NONE of that matters if you don't actually press that send button.

NONE of this helpful information matters if it is only absorbed, and not actualized.

NONE of these strategies make a damn difference if they aren't tested and practiced in real life.

So, if the last few years have taught us anything, it's that we don't need more content, information, or knowledge.

We have all the power within us.

The time is NOW to step out and be bold.

Don't be afraid to shift perspectives by sharing yours.

Don't be afraid of judgment, haters, or disagreements--all leaders who step up to influence and elevate others subject themselves to it, and it’s a low price to pay to make a dent in this universe for the better.

Remember: what matters is WHY you're doing it.

So this year, I am going to stop censoring myself so much, and stop looking around/asking for all kinds of permission from peers/coaches/gurus about "what to do in my business". 

 My PR Starter Pack program works. I just need to lean more into the space of TRUST.

I know my WHY (and that's to elevate small business voices like YOURS), and I am stepping into this fully, even if it repels people, because no one builds an empowered community of HELL YES people without a few people saying HELL NO.
