How to not feel sh*tty about this new year

New years often floods us with so many emotions, goals, things we wish we did, things we regret we did, and things we already feel overwhelmed by knowing we 'have to do'.

As small business owners wearing ALL of the hats, I also know the feeling of wanting to do better and improve upon yesterday and last year, with the constant desire to optimize and accomplish MORE.

This need for MORE literally drove me to burn out, see post here

Wanting to accomplish MORE isn't a bad thing.

But this email is to remind you that you are a living, breathing, limitless human and you deserve to rest and to feel expanded. And not feel guilty about not being "productive" 24/7.

Because your most game-changing ideas and most powerful energy come from a state of feeling expanded and infinite.

So, whatever your goals or themes for your business for this year, here's a reminder that we do not need another "NEW YEAR PLANNER" or reason to feel "behind".

What we need is community (join ours here), a place to feel seen, supported, and validated as the heroic, messy, imperfect, and beautiful individuals we all are.

That's what I am focused on building this year in our PR Starter Pack, and cannot wait to get on the first call of 2023 with our members later this month to talk about how to accomplish ANYTHING we want, starting from the inside out.

I hope you can join us and meet us, really.

And that's why I intentionally chose to unplug these last few weeks and go a bit silent, as you might have noticed.

Because from the heavy push from my peers to "plan and map out the year" last month as I was trying to take much-needed time off, I felt like what we do NOT need more of is this energy of doing MORE or always thinking ahead.

Instead of 'planning' for 2023 in December, I took an 8-day solo trip to Kauai to attend a friend's wedding on last-minute notice--see photo with my mismatched socks, below:

Days of epic hikes alone.

Days of morning and evening walks alone.

Days of NO computer and turning off my notifications.

To no one's surprise, I realized that I was way too obsessed with answering texts/emails/slacks like it was a 24/7 instant message service---I spoke about this and how it lead to mental spirals and burnout on a recent episode here.

I realized that I have so many game-changing and transformative upgrades I want to bring to our PR Starter Pack members, including more in real-life meet-ups so people can connect and feel seen.

I also realized that I have undiagnosed ADHD I have been living with all of my life (perhaps from childhood trauma).

Although it allows me to think quickly (and often too much), I also realized that NOW is the time re-align and draw some healthy boundaries, starting with my 10-morning stretching and NO phone in the bedroom or upon waking up.

So, while social media is trying to make you feel like you're already behind, this is your virtual hug to let you know that you are EXACTLY on track

Will you be accountability partners with me and others in this community to realign our goals to also serve our highest well-being this year?

Together, we can make anything happen.

It is in this community that anything is possible.

...My goals for 2023?

I am determined NOT to burn out, have another fibroid tumor reappear (I shared my journey very vulnerably on my podcast episode), and repeat what I went through last year.

If you feel the same, know that you are not alone and that I see you, I hear you, and I value you.

Let's make 2023 the year that we treat ourselves as humans and not machines, and prioritize our intuition and inner knowing over the noise online that can make us feel inadequate and behind--because "behind" doesn't exist.

Cheering for you always,

Gloria

PS: What is your word/theme for this year? Last year, my word was "growth", and from my surgery to remove the "growth" in my uterus to growing as a leader and growing my team, the theme was almost too powerfully accurate.

PPS: Instead of "planning" in 2023, I can't wait to show our PR Starter Pack members what's "possible" for 2023 if they take a few simple steps to reframe their time spent. so they can focus on building long-term assets such as searchable, SEO friendly organic PR features, instead of spending hours on low ROI tasks such as social media, which can be banned/blocked/taken away tomorrow.
